Event Info
September 11, 2011, Seward Park, Seattle, WA
Northwest Paddle Surfers and Riviera Paddle Surf presents the largest SUP event in the Pacific Northwest.  The main event is a 13 mile race around Mercer Island, located on Lake Washington between Seattle and Bellevue.  Test your speed against some of the top paddlers on the planet.  The Elite Paddlers will be competing for $10,000 in prize money in the unique “Sweep or Weep†format in which various board length classes try to steal the purse from those on longer boards. This makes for some exciting finishes!
Additionally, the 3-1/2 mile race follows the shoreline of Seward Park.  It is spectator friendly as fans can follow the action along a bike path!  The Kids’ Race for ages 7 to 14 is always fun.  It will be expanded this year for the serious little charger but still a great and safe time for the new little paddlers.
This year will also feature a Team Relay Race! Teams of four with at least one female shall complete 1 mile laps for each member.
Don’t forget the Expo with manufacturers and retailers displaying the latest products with FREE demos for the public! Food, espresso and live music will be available for all to enjoy as well. There will also be a raffle for amazing prizes.
This is a non-profit event, with all proceeds going to two fantastic beneficiaries: Seattle Children’s Hospital Foundation and Surfrider Foundation.
SoCal racers can contact our Title Sponsor, Riviera Paddle Surf, for board transport arrangements. Â Click here for more info.
Also, this is an Officially Sanctioned Event by the World Paddlle Association, so all members receive points in the worldwide scoring system. See how you stack up against the best!
As it’s the 10 year anniversary of the tragic events of September 11th, 2001, a memorial will occur before the race to remember the fallen.
