Round the Rock moves to Bellevue’s Newcastle Beach Park on Saturday, September 17, 2016 as the largest SUP event in the Pacific Northwest. The main event is a 13 mile race around Mercer Island, located on Lake Washington between Seattle and Bellevue. Test your speed against some of the top paddlers on the planet. All Paddlers in the 13 mile race will be competing for more than $10,000 in prize money in the unique “Sweep or Weep” format in which various board length classes try to steal the purse from those on longer boards. This makes for some exciting finishes!
The 3-1/2 mile race will be a multi-lap buoyed course off the shore of Newcastle Beach Park. It is spectator friendly as fans can follow the action from the shore or from the dock! The Kids Races for ages 7 to 14 are always fun. Two heats will feature one for the serious little chargers, and the other for the new little paddlers.
Don’t forget the Expo with manufacturers and retailers displaying the latest products with FREE demos for the public! Food and live music will be available for all to enjoy as well.
This is a non-profit event, with all net proceeds going to a Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
