Welcome to the 7th Annual Round the Rock!
New venue and day for 2015! We’re excited to announce that this year’s event will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at beautiful Newcastle Beach Park in Bellevue, WA.
Northwest Paddle Surfers organize the largest SUP event in the Pacific Northwest. The main event is a 13 mile race around Mercer Island, located on Lake Washington between Seattle and Bellevue. Test your speed against some of the top paddlers on the planet. All paddlers in the 13 mile race will be competing for at least $10,000 in prize money in the unique “Sweep or Weep” format in which various board length classes try to steal the purse from those on longer boards. This makes for some exciting finishes! See how you stack up against some of the best!
Additionally, the 3-1/2 mile race will be a multi-lap buoyed course off the shore of Newcastle Beach Park. It is spectator friendly as fans can follow the action from the shore or from the dock! The Kids Races for ages 7 to 14 are always fun. Two heats will feature one for the serious little chargers, and the other for the new little paddlers.
Do not forget the Expo with manufacturers and retailers displaying the latest products with FREE demos for the public! Delicious food will be available for purchase as well
The 2015 Round the Rock is a non-profit event and all net proceeds go to Athletes for Cancer. This terrific organization offers adventure-based experiences such as surfing, outrigger canoeing, standup paddling, skiing and snowboarding, to young cancer survivors as channels of healing, achievement and life-renewal that treat the mind, body, and soul.
