New venue and weekend for the 8th Annual Round the Rock SUP Race!
We’re excited to announce that this year’s event will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the beautiful Newcastle Beach Park in Bellevue, WA.
Northwest Paddle Surfers organize the oldest SUP event in the Pacific Northwest. The feature event is a 13-mile race around Mercer Island on Lake Washington between Seattle and Bellevue. Test your speed against some of the top paddlers in the world. Participants in the 13-mile race will be competing for at $10,000 in prize money in the unique “Sweep or Weep” format in which various board length classes try to steal the purse from those on longer boards. This makes for some exciting race finishes!
Additionally, the 3.5-mile race will be a multi-lap buoyed course off the shore of Newcastle Beach Park. It is spectator friendly as fans can follow the action from the shore or dock. The Kids Races for ages 7 to 14 are always fun. Two heats will feature one for the serious little chargers, and the other for the new little paddlers.
Make sure to check out our Expo featuring manufacturers and retailers displaying the latest products with FREE demos and clinics for the public. Delicious local food vendors and lively music will round out this family friendly event.
